For my AS Media coursework, I was asked to complete a Preliminary exercise which involved filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character in which he/she had to exchange a couple lines of dialogue. This task demonstrated match on action, a shot/reverse shot and the 180 degree rule. After completing my preliminary task i gained skills such as better knowledge of different camera angles and shots in which i used towards my main task. For my main task I was asked to create a two minute titled sequence for an original fiction film. My fiction film had to be linked to two other films of the same genre or storyboard. I choose to link my fiction film to '1Day' and 'Bullet Boy' as they both share the same genre which is crime/gang and they also share the same target audience with is teenagers and young adults i the United Kingdom.

Similar Text: 1 Day Film
The film 1 Day is set in 24 hours in the life of Flash, who is a hustler. His day keeps getting worse when he finds out his gang leader Angel is being released from prison and wants his £500k. Flash is given 24hours to come up with the money whilst running from a rival gang who wants to kill him. I’ve chosen this media text because it’s similar to my media production. Both media texts are set in 24 hours with similar storylines, for example, 1 Day and my media text are both the same genre, which is crime/gang and about gang violence and money. Also both media texts have the same target audience, which are young adults and teenagers. This is determined by the characters (teenagers in gangs) and the language they use (slang). Lastly both media texts are based in on the streets of the United Kingdom encountering real life event.
